Enjoy a Fun and Safe Halloween
Loyola's Safety Net Coalition hopes you'll celebrate Halloween safely and make smart decisions about drinking. The Safety Net Coalition is a group of faculty, administrators, staff, students and community members whose mission is to build a safer and healthier campus environment for the prevention of alcohol and other drug misuse among Loyola students.
The Coalition reminds students that having a good time doesn't require drinking, and that if you're under 21, drinking is illegal. The best way to avoid trouble and dangerous situations is not to drink. But, if you do decide to drink, there are steps that can help you stay safe, including: Set a limit for how much you'll drink. Make sure no one goes to or from a party alone. Carry extra money for cab fare. Get a new beverage if you've left yours unattended or if you're not sure it's yours.
To get more tips on how to celebrate safely and other information about Loyola's alcohol initiative, check out: Choice. Control. Character. Making decisions about drinking, at: LUC.edu/ccc.

Join a Special USGA Committee
Serve on a committee that has been formed to review and revise the Unified Student Government Association (USGA) Constitution. There are currently two seats available on the committee, which will allow students to be directly involved in decisions that will affect Loyola for years to come. If you are interested in serving on the committee or would like more information, contact Dan Kleinman, Committee Chairman, at: dklein2@luc.edu.
Learn About Loyola's Beverage Services Contract
Loyola's contract with its beverage services provider, Coca-Cola, will expire on July 31, 2008. A committee of staff members from various departments is reviewing proposals submitted by Coca-Cola and other beverage service companies. There has been an open debate on campus related to Coca-Cola's alleged human-rights violations in developing nations. Information on this topic, including perspectives from both sides, is available at: www.killercoke.org and www.cokefacts.com.
A resolution passed by USGA on October 23 asks that the committee delay its decision so that university-wide educational efforts can continue and interested parties can offer more input to the selection committee. This request has been granted. The committee has extended the timeline for discussions and presentations highlighting both sides of this important issue. The original deadline for a final recommendation was October 29, but it has been extended to November 16. Comments and questions related to this issue may be e-mailed to: beverages@luc.edu. All messages will be reviewed by the committee.
Send Immunization Records to the Wellness Center

If you receive a notification, submit your completed immunization record to the Wellness Center as soon as possible to have the indicator removed from your file.
