Check Out the Wellness Fair
Go to the Wellness Fair on October 3 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Gentile Center. Explore your personal and community wellness through physical screenings, self-assessments, games, music, a blood drive and free massages. Learn more about the eight areas of wellness: social, physical, intellectual, vocational, emotional, spiritual, cultural and environmental. Free food will be provided and prizes will be awarded. Waive Out of Loyola's Health Insurance by October 1
If you already have health insurance coverage, be sure to waive out of Loyola's insurance plan (and an automatic charge of $1,595) by October 1. Complete the online waiver form at: LUC.edu/bursar.
Learn About Political Science Internships
Attend information sessions on October 1 and 3 to learn about three internship opportunities available during the Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters. Available internships include:
Washington, D.C. internship and seminar with a congressional, government or non-governmental organization office (Fall and Spring Semesters: 17 credit hours; Summer Semester: six credit hours)
Political science/law school public interest law internship and seminar with placements in the State's Attorney's Office or the Public Defender's Office (three credit hours)
Chicago political science internship and seminar with placements in the Senate and House offices, campaign offices, state legislative and county offices, administrative offices and legal offices (three credit hours)
All internship information sessions will be held in Damen Hall, Room 966. The schedule is as follows:
October 1
2 p.m.: Political science/law school internship session
3 p.m.: Washington, D.C. internship session
4 p.m.: Chicago internship session
October 3
2 p.m.: Political science/law school internship session
3 p.m.: Chicago internship session
4 p.m.: Washington, D.C. internship session

Attend a Study Abroad Fair at the Water Tower Campus
Go to the Study Abroad Fair on October 3 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Terry Student Center at the Water Tower Campus. Get information about study abroad options, talk with past participants and Office for International Programs staff members, and see amazing photos from study abroad program locations and beyond. Register for the Student Leadership Institute
Attend the Second Annual Student Leadership Institute, "Leading Loyola: Creating a Leadership Legacy," on October 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the Quinlan Life Sciences Auditorium. The Institute features two nationally known leadership speakers, Joe Martin and Chris E. Stout, as well as a series of workshops. Registration is free but limited to the first 150 students who apply. Reserve Tickets for "Waiting for Godot"
"Waiting for Godot," the first production of Loyola's 2007 - 2008 theatre season, runs through October 7. Performances will be held in the Mullady Memorial Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday afternoons. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for faculty and staff, $8 for students, and $6 for Loyola students with a student I.D. Celebrate Ignatian Heritage Month
Participate in events during Ignation Heritage Month, which will be celebrated at Loyola throughout October. Ignatian Heritage Month celebrates the living legacy of Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus and Patron of Loyola. Scheduled events include a Sukkah open house, the Faith in Focus Film Series, Taizé evening prayer and the Dialogues in Faith and Study Conference. Apply for Research Opportunities
Participate in the Loyola Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (LUROP), which administers all undergraduate research opportunities at Loyola. Undergraduate students who are interested in conducting research and working with a faculty mentor during the 2007 - 2008 academic year can apply to take advantage of the following research opportunities:
Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL) Undergraduate Fellowship: This program offers fellowships for undergraduate students interested in participating in community research projects. To learn more, visit: LUC.edu/curl/aboutus/fellows.
Mulcahy Scholars: This program is for College of Arts and Sciences majors who are interested in working on an individual project with a faculty mentor or serving as a research assistant on ongoing faculty projects. Provost Fellowship: This program is for undergraduate students in any school who are interested in either establishing an individual project with faculty mentor oversight or working with a faculty member on ongoing research as a research assistant. Update Your Emergency Contact Information in LOCUS
Check to make sure your emergency contact information is updated in LOCUS. Log into LOCUS to view your personal portfolio, and then click on "Emergency Contacts." Update your emergency contact's name, address, phone number and relationship to you. This information will only be used in the event of an emergency. You may enter as many contacts as you wish. Remember to update all your contact information in LOCUS as needed, including your local (mailing) address, permanent address and phone numbers.
Read the Crime Statistics Report
Check out Loyola's 2007 - 2008 Safety Bulletin, which will be available online beginning October 1. This report includes information about crime on campus during 2006. The Safety Bulletin will be posted at: LUC.edu/safety/cleryact.shtml. For information on how to receive a hard copy of the report, call: 773.508.6039.
Take Advantage of Career Development Center Services
Visit with Peace Corps representatives on October 1 at a table in Centennial Forum Student Union. There will be a formal information session at 4:30 p.m. in Bremner Lounge. Stop by to learn about different opportunities to serve.
Review the hundreds of part-time job and internship opportunities currently posted in eRecruiting. Apply for hourly or part-time work in retail, child care, tutoring, non-profit and office work, as well as many paid and unpaid internships. Log into your eRecruiting account today to browse the job listings. If you don't have an eRecruiting account, please e-mail your request to: careercenter@luc.edu to receive your user name and password.

This event is co-sponsored by Loyola and 22 other local universities. More than 200 graduate and professional schools will be on hand to talk about admission into their various programs.
