Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memory from UNIV 101 was making the 4-Year plan because not only was it extraordinarily helpful, it also made me realize everything that I wanted to accomplish in college was absolutely possible.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memory from UNIV 101 was when I got to learn more about the many different opportunities to get more involved on campus.

Interesting fact about yourself: I love to travel & explore new places, especially by car.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: I liked getting to know my advisor, Simon, a lot when I took UNIV 101 in the Fall 2011 semester. He provided our class with some helpful words and assignments that really got me to click with the mission & goals of the first-year experience.

I would like my students to know that I really value building truthful, relatable, empathetic, & understanding relationships with others. Don’t be afraid to ask me about the experiences I’ve had here thus far, and certainly don’t be afraid to ask me about my experience as a first-year student! I’m here to help you find your way through your first year here at Loyola.

Interesting fact about yourself:  I was in Rome when Pope Francis was elected and I attended his first mass, Palm Sunday, and Easter at the Vatican in Spring 2013.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUCMy favorite memory from Univ 101 is the AIDS Run.  I really enjoyed my run by the lake on a Saturday morning with my friends (most of my UNIV class was made up of my orientation group).  I learned a lot about the city by doing this run! 

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I always want my students to know that I am going to make myself as available to them as possible, I want them to get the most out of UNIV possible and I will do anything to help in that process.

Interesting fact about yourself: A Song of Ice and Fire is to my early adulthood as Harry Potter was to my childhood. Basically, I love to read.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: The Explore Chicago project was my favorite part of UNIV 101. My group got to adventure to Lincoln Park for an afternoon and discover all the amazing restaurants there (most especially Molly’s Cupcakes).  

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I like things to be accomplished efficiently and to the best of their abilities, and I will motivate and excite you guys to reach your highest potential for your freshman year.

Interesting fact about yourself: I have had 5 concussions

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: The class meal was definitely my favorite moment of UNIV 101.  It was nice to hang out with people from my hall and our advisor in a more relaxed setting. Plus, there was free food!

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: This will be my third year as a Peer Advisor, so I’m really looking to have fun in the role and in the classroom. I also want students to know that I’m a resource for them, just ask and I’ll be there!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memories are not distinct memories, but a collection of memories of any time I’ve been surrounded by people I love. Those times when I’ve really felt in my heart that Loyola was home for me are some of the best memories I have!

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I’m a very accepting and approachable person, I love to help people out and I really WANT to help students out in everything that goes on in their first year. The first year can be stressful and exciting at the same time and your peer advisors want to be there to help you through the bad and celebrate the good!

Interesting fact about yourself:  I put my sweatshirts on in a rather odd manner.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memory from UNIV 101 was when my class went to M. Henrietta’s for breakfast. Here, I had a conversation with my advisor, Simon Hara, about music and he introduced me to The Alabama Shakes. 

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: My main goal is to have all the students in my class know that the only reason I am there is to help them. I want them to feel comfortable enough to come to me and ask about anything. I want them to know that I am not only there as a resource to aid in their transition into college, but I am there as a friend. So come to my coffee hours people!!!

Interesting fact about yourself: I am a professional Irish dancer!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: I loved getting to explore Lincoln Park for the Connections to Community project.  Enjoying a delicious breakfast and going to the Lincoln Park Zoo with a group of people I did not know very well was a great adventure!  Other favorite days in UNIV included days before Honors tests when we watched lots of inspirational Kid President videos, and the day when Ami made me delicious pumpkin chai.

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I love to chat and I love coffee shops!  I hope I can ensure that each and every one of you enjoys your first year as a Rambler as much as I did!

Interesting fact about yourself: I taught myself how to juggle!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC:   My favorite memory from UNIV 101 was traveling around the neighborhood of Edgewater with my group for a UNIV project. It was a great time being able to meet new people and to see what the different neighborhoods of Chicago had to offer.  Being able to explore the area helped me feel comfortable in Chicago, and I was able to get to know a lot of great restaurants and stores nearby.

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I know freshman year can be a stressful transition, but I am here to help! Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: Heading to Chinatown with a group of people who I really didn’t know too well. Turns out, they ended up becoming some of my best friends!

I’ve been looking forward to being a Peer Advisor all summer and I’m very excited to meet all of the new students in my UNIV 101 classes!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: The Connections to Community project was pretty sweet because we were able to travel to Chinatown. During the project we were able to better understand different parts of the city while also getting to understand the different people in my group, some of whom I didn’t know before. Overall, it was a great time meeting new people while exploring the city!

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: Don’t be intimated! I’m here to help! I love getting to know people personally. If you need help with anything, or even just a friend to talk to, I’m always available.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: Even though I grew up in Chicago, I really enjoyed being able to explore the city with my UNIV group and connect with the community by learning new things I wouldn’t have otherwise.

Interesting fact about yourself: I've been teaching myself Sign Language over the summer.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memory was going out to Bop N Grill as a UNIV class for Thanksgiving. I had never been, let alone heard of Bop N Grill, despite growing up in Chicago. The burgers there were absolutely fantastic, and it was nice to eat and hang out with my Advisor outside of a classroom setting.

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I'm a very easy-going person. I like to have fun and make things as stress-free and enjoyable as possible while still making sure that we get done whatever needs to be done.

Interesting fact about yourself: I lived in 4 different places before I even started 1st grade!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: The exploring Chicago project was definitely one of my favorite memories from UNIV 101. My group was assigned to go to Greektown, and it was so much fun! We got to try Greek food and just explore a different neighborhood in Chicago. Even though I’m from the suburbs, I had never been to this neighborhood, and this experience opened up my eyes to the diversity of Chicago.

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I am super excited to get to know all of you, and am here to be a resource and friend for you! One of my goals as a Peer Advisor is to assist all the students in my sections ease into freshman year as much as I can.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memory from UNIV 101 was when we would have class wide discussions on how we were feeling about our first semester. It really helped to know you are not alone in this big transition!

I believe the more effort you put into this course, the more benefits you will receive from it!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: Definitely the Connections to Chicago assignment and exploring downtown with some friends on my floor!

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: Picture me more as a mentor and friend rather than an authoritative figure. It will make things a lot easier to come up and talk to me. Whether it is academic or personal, I’m here to listen. Freshman year of college can be scary, but I made it out alive and can guide you along your way! Come talk to me!

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: My favorite memory from UNIV was going to Wicker Park for our Exploring Chicago project. I met new people in the class that I otherwise would not have ever spoken to. It was an awesome experience! I cannot wait for you all to experience such a great class.

We are all here to help you grow as student here at Loyola. UNIV 101 is a great opportunity to learn about how to combat life as college student.

Interesting fact about yourself: When getting certified to be an open water scuba diver, I once laughed so much I ran out of air and needed to return to the surface. 

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC: Eating the delicious peaches and cream French toast at Taste of Heaven in Andersonville. We went to explore the neighborhood for our group project, it was the first time I treated myself to a really delicious breakfast since I travelled to college and I was also able to bond with other members of my class.

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I will work my hardest to make this class a fun and informative weekly gathering. I hope to be a resource for students regarding the transition to both college classes and college life. I am really excited to get to know the students in my sections and assist them in their first year.

Interesting fact about yourself: I love to shop at thrift stores, and the majority of the items in my closet are not from this decade.

Favorite memory from UNIV 101 or from your first year at LUC:  My favorite memory from UNIV 101 was doing the group project, exploring Chicago. I was in a group with girls from my orientation group, and we had a great time getting to know each other better while doing the project. The project helped me make some of my first friends at Loyola that I kept even after UNIV 101 ended.

One thing students in your sections of UNIV 101 should know about you in your role as a Peer Advisor: I’m human. I went through the whole ‘transition to college’ phase with a few failures here and there; and while I can’t say I encountered every obstacle students may have, I will always try my best to help. I’m here for you and want to help you take advantage of the opportunities UNIV 101 presents.
