School of Social Work
Congratulations your admission to Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work Graduate Programs. You have undoubtedly worked to achieve this goal, and we look forward to helping you achieve it by offering you a stimulating, challenging, and creative learning environment. We are certain you will thrive in our environment if you are an active participant in social issues, community advocacy, and serving on behalf of marginalized populations. With direct practice emphasis, international study opportunities, our faculty’s emphasis on leadership and development, and our newly launched learning Institutes, we are thrilled to have you join our team and unite with us in an effort to change the world, one action at a time. As with all goals in life, we must start with our first steps.
As your admissions coordinator, I know the culmination of stress, relief, anxiety, enthusiasm, and hope that are part of this early process. It is my desire to serve you as much as possible, while encouraging your independence in this new endeavor.
For that reason, we have worked very hard to ensure that your outline for the coming weeks and months is transparent. Please read the MSW Checklist and this website and keep them handy as this is your opportunity to begin to practice the very self-advocacy, communication, and tolerance that will serve you so well in your coming life as a social worker.
Here is the MSW Checklist , which will be invaluable to you during this time.

Statistics Requirement
All incoming students are required to have taken a college level statistics course within the past four years (having earned a C or higher). If you do not meet this requirement, you will receive an email in the coming weeks as to how to register for this via our online course system. You may also register for a class outside of Loyola, as long as this course is completed within the designated timeline. The statistics course does not serve as a regular course and will not be found in LOCUS, but, rather is a prerequisite for the program required for all incoming students. If you do need to take this course, the email you receive will outline the registration process.
