Assistant Vice President, Quality and Research for Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, Graduate School Alumna - 1998

Dr. Kathleen Ruroede is the Assistant Vice President for Quality and Research at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital.  In this role Dr. Ruroede provides leadership for the Quality and Research functions and staff including the Library, Accreditation, Clinical Outcomes, Rehabilitation Prospective Payment System, and Performance Improvement initiatives. She is Chairman for Marianjoy’s Institutional Review Board and cultivates collaborative research relationships with academic and professional associations to benefit the rehabilitation population of patients served as well as the rehabilitation industry.

Formerly Dr. Ruroede was a healthcare and research consultant with Joint Commission Resources, Inc., a subsidiary of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.  She has also consulted with various corporations on domestic and international research projects, educational program development, and quality management initiatives.  Prior to that, Dr. Ruroede was an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Healthcare Risk Management Department at Rosaland Franklin University (formerly Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School), where she taught graduate level research and statistics. 

Dr. Ruroede’s doctoral degree is in research methodology, she holds a master’s degree in adult education degree, and an undergraduate degree is in nursing.  She also has a certificate in distance education.  Dr. Ruroede’s prior work experience includes positions in education services within a hospital and professional liability insurance carrier, several hospital administration posts in Chicago area academic medical centers, and varied clinical nursing and leadership roles.
