HRER 455: Employment Discrimination Law

Course Description

This course is an examination of the principal theories and literature in the area of employment discrimination and the role of the law. The course will emphasize, through case analysis, the substantive case law arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, Civil Rights Act of 1991, Executive Order 11246, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and American Disabilities Act. Students will be given the opportunity to design an affirmative action program, prepare for an EEO compliance review, and learn how to handle a discrimination charge and a fact-finding conference. This course will not concentrate on legal and trial procedures in litigating an employment discrimination claim.
