Course Description
This course is designed to introduce students to a comparative analysis of industrial/employment relations systems throughout the world. Four representative countries world will be covered. We will also devote considerable attention to the topic of labor regulation in a global economy and why this is an especially important issue in a global economy. Topics covered will include the International Labor Organization (ILO) and its core labor conventions, the incorporation of labor standards into trade agreements, the European Union and the Social Chapter, and the relationship between labor rights and human rights.
