Office of the General Counsel Externship
A second year law student is sought with an interest in health care, corporate and medical malpractice issues. The successful candidate will witness first-hand the demanding day-to-day activities of an in-house corporate legal staff. Externs will draft legal memoranda on various issues, including professional liability and contracting. The opportunity exists to customize part of the extern's duties to articulated interests.
Office of Corporate Compliance
A second year law student is sought with an interest in health care regulatory issues. The successful candidate will draft legal memoranda and perform legal research. Also, the extern will draft and review policies and procedures, attend Corporate Compliance meetings and experience first-hand how many regulatory challenges are met in this environment.
For both externships, legal research experience is required. And, time management and problem-solving skills are expected. The hospital is located in Maywood, IL; the extern must have access to a car. Externships are for approximately 15 hours each week and are completed over the course of an academic semester (or summer). Within the guidelines established by the hospital and the law school, flexible scheduling can be arranged.
