Beazley Institute Launches Revised Health Law Curriculum
The Beazley Institute is pleased to announce our new health law curriculum for J.D. and LL.M. students. Loyola faculty worked with a distinguished committee of leading health lawyers to identify the essential substantive knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the field of health law. The new curriculum incorporates these knowledge areas and focuses on experiential learning such as contract drafting, preparing and delivering client presentations, negotiation, research and writing. The Beazley Institute partnered with the Health Care Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association to host an annual Health Law Career Panel on January 21, 2009. Students heard from health lawyers practicing in different areas about their experiences and career paths. Visiting Professor Barbara Youngberg recently published two articles: "Identifying High-Quality Health Care Organizations" appeared as a Guest Column in The Doctor's Advocate (Fourth Quarter 2008) and "Event Reporting: The Value of a Nonpunitive Approach" appeared in 51 Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology 4 (December 2008).
