Beazley Institute Launches Revised Health Law Curriculum

The Beazley Institute is pleased to announce our new health law curriculum for J.D. and LL.M. students. Loyola faculty worked with a distinguished committee of leading health lawyers to identify the essential substantive knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the field of health law. The new curriculum incorporates these knowledge areas and focuses on experiential learning such as contract drafting, preparing and delivering client presentations, negotiation, research and writing. Loyola University Chicago School of Law Hosts Annual Illinois State Bar Association Health Law Career Panel

The Beazley Institute partnered with the Health Care Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association to host an annual Health Law Career Panel on January 21, 2009. Students heard from health lawyers practicing in different areas about their experiences and career paths. Speakers included:

Faculty Publications

Professor John Blum recently contributed to an article entitled "Health Care Reform Top Health Law Issue as Economy, New Leadership Drive Change" in 18 BNA's Health Law Reporter 1. The piece detailed the top 10 issues facing health care providers in 2009. Click here to view a copy of the article.

Visiting Professor Barbara Youngberg recently published two articles: "Identifying High-Quality Health Care Organizations" appeared as a Guest Column in The Doctor's Advocate (Fourth Quarter 2008) and "Event Reporting: The Value of a Nonpunitive Approach" appeared in 51 Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology 4 (December 2008).
