Honor Students and the School for International Training
Loyola has added the School for International Training (SIT) consortium as a new study abroad provider. SIT offers programs that immerse students in real-world contexts where they can examine critical, global issues from diverse perspectives and multiple sources of knowledge. Each program is comprised of a relatively small group of students who benefit from individualized attention and vibrant intellectual exchange with SIT faculty and staff, local experts, host community members, and fellow students. These programs are unique in their intensive cultural immersion, substantial community involvement, enlightening educational excursions, and emphasis on individual field-based research.
SIT requires all students on their programs to undertake an Independent Study Project that is typically worth 4 credits. Completion of the SIT program abroad and the Independent Study Project will satisfy one of the honors area studies requirements. Contact The Office for International Program firstname.lastname@example.org for further information on SIT programs.
Each SIT program focuses on one of six critical, global issues:
- Global Health
- Identity and Globalization
- Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity and Environmental Policy
- Post-Conflict Transformation
- Social Movements, Education and Human Rights
- Sustainable Development
Loyola students can study abroad through SIT in the following countries:
- Czech Rep.
- South Africa
