FAculty & Staff Opinion Survey
Background
During the month of September, Loyola University Chicago took a monumental step towards assessing its culture. For three weeks, from September 9 through 30, 2007, Loyola, conducted its first faculty and staff opinion survey. 69% of Loyola’s faculty and staff members participated in the survey. This high a participation rate indicates a strong interest from the University community.
The next phase of the survey project is called “Results to Action”. Each school/division has nominated a Planning Coordinator, an individual that will:
- act as a consultant for their division/school by analyzing and interpreting their area’s data reports
- work under the direction of the Vice President/Dean, to communicate the results and select outcomes to be addressed
- drive the work that is done on the selected outcomes and provide progress reports every six months to the Training and Development department
Planning Coordinators were encouraged to attend a “Train the Trainer” workshop that was conducted by ISR-Towers Perrin and the Training and Development department. The one-half day workshop provided the Planning Coordinators with the tools and knowledge needed to drive the “Results to Action” phase in their area.
Now that a baseline has been established, the Loyola Faculty & Staff Survey will be conducted every two years. It is the university’s sincere desire to continually enhance the work environment for all Loyolans.
