Terminations/Open Positions

When an employee gives notification of resignation or is involuntarily terminated, Human Resources must be contacted to facilitate the exit process and insure that all legal notifications are give to the exiting employee. When the exit paperwork is completed by Human Resources, the Personnel Action Form will be automatically generated to remove the employee from the department's payroll.

When an employee's position is vacated (due to resignation, termination, or movement to another position with the department or University), an Employee Requisition needs to be prepared and approved in order to fill the open position. This is true of both full and part-time positions.

When an employee is hired into an approved open position (via an approved Employee Requisition), Human Resources will generate a formal confirmation letter, schedule the employee to attend a full or part-time benefits orientation, and will complete the Personnel Action Form which activates the employee into the new position.
