Student Health Insurance

Health insurance, covering medical treatment and/or hospitalization while in Italy, is required of all Rome Start students.

Unless you are an EU citizen and are covered by national health insurance, Rome Start students will automatically be enrolled in Loyola’s international health insurance program: CISI.

Opt out of Loyola's US Student Health Insurance

Please note that on your E-bill, you will see a charge for “Student Health Insurance Fee–UHC.” You will need to waive this service. The Board of Trustees dictates that all students must be automatically charged for this student health insurance. As this insurance does not provide adequate coverage outside of the United States, we ask that you waive the insurance in LOCUS by providing us with your own insurance information.

To waive the Student Health Insurance, log in to LOCUS and go to the “Campus Finances” section. You will see a link for “Student Health Insurance” where you will be able to click on the “Waive Out” option. You will be asked to provide us with your basic insurance information (insurance company name and policy number). Then click “Submit.”

Once this is completed, your account will be credited for the Student Health Insurance Fee and you will not be charged. (To see if your account has been credited in LOCUS, go to “Campus Finances,” “Account Summary by Term,” and then click on “Fall 2019.”)

For students covered under the Italian “Servizio Sanitario Nazionale,” please use “Italian National Health Service” as your carrier name and your “codice fiscale” as your policy number.
