 In 2006, after 15 years serving IPS students in various roles as pastoral counselor or facilitator of clinical and theological reflection groups, I was delighted to join the IPS faculty full-time as Director of Field Education. My responsibilities in this position give me the opportunity and privilege to assist divinity, pastoral studies, social justice and pastoral counseling students in pursuing their own specific vocational gifts and interests. 

Students are drawn to respond to society’s needs at different levels, some through counseling and education of individuals and small groups, some through advocacy and intervention at systemic levels. Some find their ministry in parishes and other faith-based institutions, others work in general health care and social service agencies; all share in a vision of promoting a global community of peace and justice.

My training and credentials as a pastoral counselor and a licensed clinical professional counselor provide me the theoretical foundations and professional base to facilitate opportunities for students to reflect theologically and clinically on their own experience and the experiences of those they serve through internship. My aim is to assist students toward finding or creating ongoing professional communities in which theological reflection on their experience can continue in the decades beyond their time of study at IPS.
