IPS Endowed Graduate Student Scholarships
Endowed scholarships are available for IPS students each academic year. IPS has a limited amount of scholarship funds available to award students who show financial need.
Requirements
Because these funds are limited, the application form indicates those who might be especially deserving of assistance.
Award Amount
Scholarships awarded are split equally between the Fall and Spring Semesters, typically covering one or two three-credit-hour courses and half or one three-credit-hour course in the summer. Scholarships do not cover zero-credit-hour courses, workshops, post-graduate tuition audits, and/or fees.

Ministry Matching Grant
The Ministry Matching Grant program was developed by Loyola to assist women and men actively involved in professional ministry who wish to further their education. Under the terms of the program, participants are asked to acquire the sponsorship of a church institution, e.g., parish school, diocese, or a social justice agency or not-for-profit organization.
Award Amount
If the sponsor agrees to pay 25% of the participant's tuition costs, another 25% will be paid by Loyola, leaving only 50% to be paid by the student. Students must apply for these grants each semester. This grant applies to tuition only and does not cover fees, zero-credit-hour courses, books, etc.

Mission Grant
Mission Grants support the mission and values of Loyola and only cover courses taken for credit.
Award Amount
Students pay one-third of their tuition; a sponsoring agency pays another third; and Loyola pays the remaining third.
Requirements
Eligible students include members of religious orders working in developing countries; international Jesuits; faculty, staff, and administrators employed by one of Loyola's sister schools; participants in the Archdiocesan Leadership Program; and participants in the Together in God's Service Program. Recipients of Mission Grants forfeit their eligibility to receive other University-funded scholarships, assistantships, or grants.

Together in God's Service
IPS participates fully with the Archdiocese of Chicago's Together in God's Service (TIGS) Formation Program. Students who anticipate working for the Archdiocese of Chicago upon completion of their degree program are encouraged to contact the Archdiocese of Chicago's Lay Ministry Formation Office.
Award Amount
The TIGS program provides up to $3,000 in an annual tuition loan, and that amount is matched by an annual Loyola grant.
Requirements
Award recipients must work in the Archdiocese of Chicago upon completion of their degree program.

The program aims to foster lay ecclesial ministry among members of the African-American, Asian and Hispanic communities who participate in the Together In God's Service (TIGS) program by providing them with the opportunity to complete essential academic and formation requirements through tuition grants.

LOYOLA MINISTRY GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP
Ministry will have four openings for Graduate Assistantships available for the 2011-2012 academic year. To see the list of openings go to:
http://www.luc.edu/studentdevelopment/gradassistantships/positiondesc.shtml
Three of the positions are listed as Ministry and the one Student Leadership Development position actually works in Ministry as a Sophomore Chaplain intern.
Requirements
Ministry's graduate assistantship is a program for Loyola graduate students who are exploring a call to ecclesial ministry. While examining this call in the context of a university community, GAs work toward proficiency in the skills necessary to answer the call, namely pastoral leadership, pastoral care and program management. GAs commit to a minimum of twenty five hours per week. The assistantship begins on or near August 1. GA’s have one-year agreements while most students renew for second year in order to complete their master’s degree. For more details visit the Ministry web site at http://www.luc.edu/ministry/graduateassistant.shtml
Apply
Visit the Ministry web site for more details regarding the Graduate Assistantship. Students must submit a letter of interest, a resume, and the names, addresses, and phone numbers of three professional references and an online application by January 18. Please go to http://www.luc.edu/studentdevelopment/gradassistantships/index.shtml for specific application instructions.
Contact Chris Murphy at cmurph3@luc.edu or 773.508.2207 with questions.
The Institute of Pastoral Studies, in conjunction with Loyola University Chicago, funds six students in student work assistance positions.
Award Amount
$3,000 annually (two semesters of work).
Requirements
Students are expected to work eight hours per week for two 14-week semesters. The type of service is determined on an individual basis, but is intended to meet the needs of the IPS and to help the student in professional growth.
Apply
Students must apply by March 1, 2012. Students are required to send a letter with the application outlining qualifications and financial needs to Randy Gibbons, IPS Office Manager, at rgibbon@luc.edu.
Post-Graduate Tuition Reduction Program
To encourage continuing education, IPS has developed the Post-Graduate Tuition Reduction Program
Award Amount
This program allows students holding a master's degree in specified areas to register for additional study in the same area as an auditor at a 50% tuition reduction.
Requirements
Relevant degrees include master’s degrees in theology, pastoral counseling, pastoral studies, religious education, or divinity.
- Registration for specific classes is for audit only and not for credit.
- Participants using the tuition reduction program are required to complete all the assignments of the courses for which they register.
- Audited courses may not be used for credit toward any additional degree at Loyola.
- Registration in a particular course is governed by the ordinary approval applicable to any graduate course and is further limited by the availability of space in the desired class.
- A participant may not take courses for credit and audit simultaneously.
Apply
Students should apply to IPS through the Graduate and Professional Enrollment Management (GPEM) Office as a non-degree seeking student. If the student is an IPS graduate, please fill out the reapplication form(link) and submit it to the GPEM office. After being admitted, the student must contact IPS and request Post-Graduate Tuition Auditor status. This must be done at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.
