Join us on Saturday, December 8: Advent Retreat with Bill Huebsch

Advent Retreat

Join Bill Huebsch, religious educator and author of Dreams & Visions: Pastoral Planning for Lifelong Faith Formation and Growing Up Catholic, for this day-long experience of renewal.

One of the most enduring contributions of the Second Vatican Council has been a renewed focus on the Universal Call to Holiness. In this 50th Anniversary year, it seems fitting to let this set the agenda for our Advent Retreat.

The pathway to holiness, we're told in the Council documents, passes through the paschal mystery - Christ's experience of that as well as our own. While dying to self may seem like more of a Lenten theme than an Advent one, spending Advent with an eye on Easter is actually a very Catholic thing to do. Between the cradle and cross, the amazing mystery of what it means to die and rise with Christ unfolds with tremendous power. In these modern times, dying has gone out of fashion in many places, but it remains the only real pathway to happiness.

During this retreat, we will consider these mysteries and prepare for deeper intimacy with Christ on the Feast of Christmas.

The retreat will be in Lewis Towers, Regents Hall, 16th Floor, 111 E. Pearson Street, Chicago, Illinois 60611 and will run from 9:00AM-4:00PM.
