customizing your course menu
The Blackboard Course Menu appears in the upper left corner of your Blackboard course. Blackboard allows you to customize the Course Menu links; you can rename, reorder, or remove any existing course area, or add a new area directly from the menu.
Make sure that
Add a Content Area or other menu item by clicking the Add Menu Item button at the top left of the menu and selecting the type of menu item to add, e.g., "Create Content Area."

Then, give the area a name, e.g. "Video," and make it available for your students by checking the box "Available to Users," and click Submit.

To rename, hide, or delete a link, click the chevron beside any menu link to see the options available for that item and make your selection; the change is made immediately.

A small box next to a menu item means there is no content in that area and students will not see the link. Once you add content to the area, the link will appear for students.

A small box with a line through it next to a menu item means that link is hidden from students.

To make the hidden link visible to students, click the chevron beside the link and select Show Link.

Reorder a menu item by using the double headed arrows to drag it up or down and drop it in the new location on the menu.
Click on a Course Menu item to make the contents in that folder appear in the content frame to the right of the menu.

Use the Hide Course Menu button to allow more room to display your content. You can bring back the menu by clicking on the button again.

Select buttons or text, and change your menu’s background color and text color by clicking Customization in the Control Panel, under the menu on the first page of your course, then click Style.
