Comparing Enterprise and Free Box Accounts

LUC BOX (ENTERPRISE) ACCOUNTS

Cloud storage accounts created through LUC Box are considered "enterprise" accounts, available exclusively to current students, faculty, and staff through a partnership with Internet2. Accounts are for individual use only; group accounts are not available at this time.

FREE PERSONAL BOX ACCOUNTS

Free Box accounts, available to the public, are not related to the LUC Box service. Anyone can have a free personal Box account; if you choose to create one, you must use a non-Loyola email address and password of your choice. You cannot associate a free personal account with your university email address. If you previously created a personal account using your Loyola ID, you have two options:

  • Keep the account but change the associated email address to one other than your university email address. See Box's How do I change my email address or password?  for more information. This is the preferred option. Once completed, you will be able to create an LUC Box account if you wish.
  • Prepare your personal account to be migrated to the enterprise service by ensuring that the address associated with this account is your Loyola email address. All personal Box accounts with associated Loyola email addresses will be migrated to the enterprise service this summer (date to be determined). You can initiate a migration ahead of time by contacting the Loyola ITS Help Desk (4-4444 or by e-mail at Helpdesk@luc.edu).

SHARING FILES BETWEEN PERSONAL AND ENTERPRISE ACCOUNTS

You can share files from your personal account to your enterprise account, but be sure to follow appropriate security guidelines and Loyola's Acceptable Use Policy for Electronic University Resources.
