Cable Television


Most residence halls are provided with Comcast, with the exception of Santa Clara, LeMoyne, and Canisius, which offer DirecTV.  

To Report Trouble with Comcast:

Before reporting trouble, please make sure you have taken the steps in the Troubleshooting Guide and have the cables set up according to the Diagram of the Basic Digital Box.

Make sure you have your Cable box and cables setup according to the following:

If you are receiving an error message such as 'one moment please' or 'not authorized’ or receive only a black screen, you will need to contact Comcast directly. Comcast will need to look up your account by the address and room number, not the account number/telephone number.  If they state they cannot do this, please ask for a supervisor.  There have been reports that not all the Comncast Call Center personnel are aware of the proper process.

1)  Call 1-866-594-1234.
2)  Press Option 1, 1, 2 and enter your phone number when prompted, select 1 to confirm phone number.
3)  Next select Option 1, then option 1 again for Cable TV.
4)  You should now be directed to a live Comcast representative and will need to provide the error message or problem you are experiencing.
 
Information Required:
1) Physical Address of the building (See the Building Address List)
2) Unit Number
3) Student's Phone number (cell phone is best if a room appointment is necessary)

To Order an Upgrade: 

Premium channels, pay-per-view and digital cable service is also available to Loyola University Chicago residents from Comcast at additional charge.   Costs associated to services beyond basic cable are the responsibility of the student and require a separate contract with Comcast.

Call 1-866-594-1234 (Option 1, enter phone number, Option 3, Option 1) in order to upgrade to the premium service.

To Report Trouble with DirecTV
 

Santa Clara, LeMoyne, and Canisius have DirecTV.  Please use the following information to trouble-shoot and report trouble.

Tune your television to channel 3 or 4.   Tune the DIRECTV receiver to channel 202 to confirm the service has been activated.  If you are not receiving programming or have any questions about the hook up please call USA Wireless at (847) 831-4561 or (800) 433-4558.  You can talk to Joyce at ext 10, Warren ext 11, Bart 20, or Larry ext 21.
 
This receiver will have access to the Choice package which includes 160 digital channels including the Chicago local channels.  If you are interested in additional programming call USA Wireless for the details on setting up an individual DIRECTV account.
 
If you experience any signal issues after business hours call (800) 433-4558 and press option 6 to be transferred to a live operator.
