Availability of limited access guest privileges
Limited access guest privileges to public-access facilities may be extended to visiting students and faculty, and other persons, by the University given the availability of these facilities.
Such privileges are contingent upon the availability of public-access computing and networking facilities and services. At times, these privileges may need to be limited further or suspended in order to insure access and use of resources by Loyola students and faculty, e.g., during times of peak resource usage, by the appropriate facilities manager or systems administrator. (Please refer to the link above for full policy information).
The University Libraries along with the department of ITS Computing Labs provide access to Alumni with alumni cards. They may continue to enjoy unrestricted access to all University Libraries, along with access to the computer network, Internet, and select electronic resources. Alumni’s computer access to the network is limited to 24 hours and must be renewed each time they visit one of the supporting locations within the University Libraries or computing centers. Visit the Alumni Association site for information on obtaining a valid alumni card.
Currently, we are unable to provide access to the wireless network to Alumni.
Additional access restrictions may apply during final exams and the period of time preceding final exams.
Community Access: The Cudahy Library and Klarchek Information Commons at the Lake Shore Campus welcome guests who are members of the community. Guests with valid photo IDs are welcome to use the Library and Information Commons during specific times listed.
All requests should be submitted at least 72 hours in advance of your event. Below is a common list of requests.
- To acquire secure login ID's for guest Internet access (including your presenter)
- To arrange for assistance with using built-in equipment located in the electronic spaces, or to request equipment from Classroom Technology Support
- To request special access to systems, web sites, or applications
- To request additional software
The following is needed when requesting a Conference ID from the ITS Help Desk:
- A Loyola faculty or staff member must make the request on behalf of the conference attendee(s)
- Name of the conference
- Exact number of conference attendees
- Date of the conference
- Exact start and ends times of the conference
Please note that a Conference ID is for accessing the wireless network only and is strictly reserved just for conferences. Only the Loyola sponsor making the initial request can ask for the password to be reset or to remove a lock from an account.
Non-Affiliated Person's Form (NAP):
(NAP) is used to request a Guest ID. It provides access to Loyola's electronic network including email and other systems. Guests are considered all those who are not current Loyola faculty, staff, or students. This includes visiting faculty, consultants, and contractors providing services to the university, as well as non-credit participants in instructional programs. All requests must be made by a Loyola sponsor. Once a Guest ID has been created, the sponsor must contact the ITS Help Desk for any additional access privileges that need to be set up.
