New Information Security Program at the Health Sciences Campus

Dear Health Sciences Community,

Loyola University Chicago is expanding its Personally Identifiable Information (PII) program to the Health Sciences Campus. This program is designed to lessen the risk of identity theft by identifying and eliminating unneeded or improperly stored PII, such as Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, and banking information.

The focus of the program is to identify and limit places at Loyola where PII is being collected or recorded -- computer systems as well as paper files. The work ensures that any PII Loyola needs to retain for business purposes is effectively protected.

Per University policy, all University computers must be scanned for PII and have their remediation completed every six months. Currently, this program only applies to faculty and staff located in the Cuneo Center/SSOM building. It will be rolled out to other buildings at a later date.

The first step is to collect basic information about your Loyola-provided computer. Please click here to access and complete the computer inventory form on Loyola Wired. Forms must be completed by August 24, 2016.

If you need assistance with the form, data stewards have been assigned and will serve as subject matter experts who can answer your questions. Please contact your designated data steward listed below with questions.

Cuneo Center/SSOM first floor Ryan Sabo, rsabo@luc.edu, 708.216.5992

In the coming weeks, you will receive additional emails with instructions on how to install the required software and complete the PII scanning process. Sincerely,
