  • Continue to monitor advancements made in the industry and neighborhood coverage.
  • AT&T on site doing survey of cellular signals in Santa Clara, Information Commons, Sullivan, Burrowes House, and Simpson Living Learning Center.
  • Next Steps: 1) AT&T in conversation with LUC on installing a DAS in the Information Commons, need to review plan and requirements; 2) Continue to monitor advancements made in the industry and neighborhood coverage when Damen Hall is demolished.

  • Cost to implement an in-building antenna system in 6 Loyola locations exceeds $750,000.AT&T is currently exploring a "donor" antenna solution at a significantly reduced cost.
  • Carriers are also coming to market with smaller in-building signal repeaters to booster signal strength-we're following this development.
  • AT&T is predicting that the demolition of Damen Hall will give us better line of sight with the antennas located at Devon and Sheridan thus improving service to several campus locations.
  • Next Steps: (1) Continue to monitor advancements made in the industry and neighborhood coverage. (2) A group of Midwest schools have begun meeting to discuss common challenges of getting wireless service providers to improve cellular service inside buildings and what we can do to assist one another. The second meeting of this group is scheduled for mid-April.

  • Next Steps: Expanding estimate to include multi carrier solution from Externet (third party).

  • AT&T has engaged an outside provider to assess and make recommendations to LUC.
  • Next Steps: (1) Third party recommendations due mid-September.

  • Vendor quote received to implement a DAS solution in five buildings on the LSC ($225,000).
  • Next Steps: (1) Looking for alternative solutions to a "leaky cable," partnering with the community, having our providers sponsor the solution implementation.
