Statistical and Research-Related Software APPLICATIONS
The following statistical software packages, with the exception of NVivo 8 and SAS are available in all open access labs and from all Loyola office desktops. Go to Loyola Software, and click the Statistical Applications tab to find:
PASW Modeler (formerly Clementine™) Data Mining package (from SPSS); unlimited use license (300+).
HLM 6.06 - Hierarchical Linear Modeling package (SSI Central); 25 concurrent user license.
LISREL 8.80 - Structural Equation Modeling package (SSI Central); 25 concurrent user license.
SSICENTRAL offers a free Student Version of LISREL to load on your home computer. Access the SSICENTRAL page by clicking on the LISREL 8.80 link above. At the SSICENTRAL home page, click on FREE DOWNLOADS.
Minitab 15 - comprehensive statistics package; 65 concurrent user license.
*NVivo 8 - qualitative research software; 64 per seat licenses. Currently running NVivo8, SP4.
Users can download an individual copy of the software for a free 30 day trial from QSR International.
FACULTY NVIVO USE VIA LOYOLA OFFICE DESKTOP/HOME USE
Faculty who wish to use NVivo 8 on their Loyola office desktop must have the software 'associated' to their Loyola uvid. To request a uvid association to the software please contact helpdesk@luc.edu or Lauree Garvin at 773-508-7653, lgarvin@luc.edu. Faculty who are uvid associated to the software may also request a copy of the software to load locally on a home computer. There is no fee associated with home use.

PLEASE NOTE: While WTC 201 and WTC 710 are open access labs they can be reserved for classes. If a class is in session the lab will not be available to the general student population for that time slot. To check availability of these labs refer to the weekly schedule that is posted on the lab door.

PLEASE NOTE: In the Information Commons and WTC 709 labs, if the software has not been previously used on a machine it will install on the machine you are using when you click on the program name. The installation takes about five minutes to complete.

Once an initial purchase has been made upgrades are free for as long as the faculty member remains at Loyola. LOCAL INSTALLS OF SAS ON LOYOLA PURCHASED LAPTOPS
Faculty members with Loyola owned laptops may have the software loaded locally on the laptop for use away from Loyola without any additional license charge. Contact Jack Corliss at 773-508-7606, jcorlis@luc.edu, if you need SAS installed locally on a Loyola purchased laptop (the laptop will have a Loyola bar code).
STUDENT PURCHASES OF SAS
Students can purchase the SAS 4.1 Learning Version from e-academy for $60.00.
PASW Statistics 17.0 (SPSS 17) - comprehensive statistics package; unlimited use license (300+). Includes SPSS Base, SPSS Tables™, SPSS Advanced Models™, and SPSS Regression Models™. Loyola does not have a license for the AMOS module.
PASW FOR HOME USE - STUDENTS
SPSS offers a PASW Statistics GradPack and a PASW Statistics Student Software for use on personal computers. The GradPack is available in Windows (v. 17; v. 18) and Mac (v. 17), and Linux (v.17) formats. SPSS has two different versions of the GradPack: The PASW Statistics 17/18 GradPack Base with no case or variable limits and no add-on modules; and the PASW Statistics 17/18 GradPack with no case or variable limits and three add-on modules, SPSS Advanced Models, SPSS Regression Models, and AMOS (structural equation modeling module; available only for Windows version). The PASW Statistics 17 or 18 GradPack Base and GradPack license is good for four years, is for home use only, and allows for two separate installs.
The PASW Statistics Student Software, by contrast, includes only SPSS Base with limits of 50 variables and 1500 cases. In addition you cannot add modules to this version, the license is for thirteen months and is for home use only. You cannot upgrade the license.
You must be currently registered as a student to buy these packages. The PASW Statistics GradPack, PASW Statistics GradPack Base and the PASW Statistics Student Software are available for purchase online from a number of vendors although the availability of each package and the version depends on the vendor. Please check the web sites of the following online merchants for these packages: JourneyEd; Studica; Academic Superstore; and Studentdiscounts. The GradPack (v. 17.0, v. 18 Windows; v. 17.0 Mac; v. 17 Linux ) is usually available for $199.98 and the Student Software (v. 17.0) for $89.98.
Rentals of the PASW Statistics GradPack and GradPack Base are available through e-academy at the following rates as of August 25th, 2009: PASW Statistics GradPack Base (v. 17, Windows, Mac, or Linux) rate of $49.99 for six months and $79.99 for 12 months; PASW Statistics GradPack (v. 17, Windows, Mac, or Linux) rate of $79.99 for six months and $139.99 for 12 months. Please check the e-academy web site for the most current versions and rates.
Please note that the Loyola bookstores do not sell the GradPack or the Student Software.

The Faculty Pack includes the full SPSS Base product, with no limitations, plus an additional 13 add-on modules for extended functionality. The add-on modules include: PASW Advanced Models™, PASW Regression Models™, PASW Conjoint™, PASW Categories™, PASW Custom Tables™, PASW Forecasting™, PASW Exact Tests™ (Windows only), PASW Complex Samples™, PASW Missing Values™, PASW Data Preparation™, and PASW Decision Trees™, PASW Neural Networks™, and PASW EZ RFM™. The license for this package is a one-year, non-renewable, single user license and includes technical support.

STATA 10, Intercooled - comprehensive statistics package favored by economics and political science; 60 concurrent user license. Version 11 will be available on the Loyola network by January 2010.
SYSTAT 12 - comprehensive statistics package favored by biological and medical sciences; unlimited use license (300+).
