Patching MAC OS X

If you are running Mac OS X, you should check for updates every month. To check for updates in OS X, select Software Update... from the Apple Menu.

Your computer will then go out to the Internet to check for new software.

You may see a number of applications that can be upgraded. It is recommended that you update all of them, but the only one that you must install is the Mac OS X Update. Place a checkmark next to all of the items you want to install, then click the Install button.

Installing a Mac OS X update requires root access. You will be prompted to confirm your account name, type in your password, and click OK.

You will see a license agreement for the update. You will need to click Agree before you can install the update. If you do not agree with the license update, you can click Disagree. This will end the installation process, and your computer will not be upgraded.

The update will download and install without any additional intervention from you. Please allow the update to complete, at which point you will see a box asking if you want to shut down or reboot. Close all of your other open applications, and then click Reboot.
