Together We Care: Student Promise Week of Service
COMMUNITY SERVICE HOUR COMPETITION: Talk to your student org or residence hall floor mates or just some friends and make a team. The team that completes the highest average number of service hours per person between April 11th and April 18th will win a prize package including a fully catered meal, massage therapy sessions and more!!!!
Competition Purpose
The Student Promise is a unique and special part of Loyola University Chicago. This week celebrates its existence as well as the spirit of the student body. At its heart the student body possesses a caring attitude toward themselves, others and the larger community. This competition personifies the good in all of us and the values we cherish as members of the Loyola University Chicago community.

4/15 South Campus Community Clean Up 10-12pm meet in CFSU Lobby
4/16 Tutoring and After School Program Gale Academy 2:30 - 5:45pm
4/17 Beach Clean up 2:30 -5:45pm meet at Gale Academy (In Collaboration with Shedd Aquarium)

Competition Rules
- All participants must be part of a team. The team can be a student organization, residence hall floor or a group of friends. The minimum number of team members is 5 and the maximum number of team members is 30. If your residence hall floor or student organization has more than 30 members we encourage you to form two or more teams instead of limiting the number of participants.
- All teams must designate a team captain. The team captain is responsible for registering their team online; picking up a team registration packet at the kick-off event, turning in the team packet during the competition closing event and for taking the lead to make sure team has service opportunities during the competition week. He/she are also responsible for scheduling the prize collection date.
- Students may NOT register with more than one team.
- The team that completes and documents the highest average number of service hours per team member wins.
- ALL HOURS OF SERVICE MUST BE COMPLETED BETWEEN APRIL 11TH AND APRIL 18TH TO BE CONSIDERED VALID!!
- ALL HOURS OF SERVICE MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON OFFICIAL CONTEST FORMS AND BE VERIFIED BY A SITE SUPERVISOR!
- Only students of Loyola University Chicago (as defined on page 8 in the Student Handbook) are eligible to participate.
- While group projects are highly encouraged; students who donate their time individually will be able to count hours toward their registered team total (individuals must be pre-registered as part of a team in order to submit valid hours).
- There will be 4 large scale events organized by the contest sponsors.
- Dates are Monday, April 14th, Tuesday, April 15th, Wednesday, April 16th and Thursday, April 17th. Volunteer slots will be limited to 10 participants per team and be “first come first service” for pre-scheduled events. Sign up will be available during the kick-off event in CFSU Lobby on April 11th between 1-5pm.
- Outside the pre-scheduled LUC sponsored service projects, students are responsible for finding their own service sites and projects. A list of suggested service opportunities will be supplied in team registration packets.
- The last day of the competition is April 18th, CARE FOR SELF DAY. Attendance at any or all of the Care for Self events will count toward your service hour total!! All sessions will be held on the 2nd floor of Halas Sports Center.
- PRIZE MUST BE USED NO LATER THAN Monday, APRIL 28TH!! Due to exams beginning.
Prize Details
The team that completes the highest average number of service hours per team member between April 11th and April 18th will win a prize package including a $250 catered meal from a local restaurant of your choice and 2 hours with professional massage therapists (Valued at $400). This prize package is designed to help you care for your self before exams begin.
