Student Resources
Research Opportunities
My lab provides research opportunities for students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Undergraduate students interested in working in my lab do so either for course credit (PSYC 369, 370 - Honor's Readings & Research; PSYC 397, 399 - Special Studies in Psychology, Independent Research), for volunteer experience, or for funding. To learn more about what is going on in my lab, click the tab to the right "Research" To see some of the things we do in the lab click "Lab Photos and Events."
Most students who work in my lab do so by invitation only. A few well-qualified students are taken as volunteers each semester. Students who are paid to work in the lab almost always have worked in the lab for course credit or as a volunteer for at least a semester. I usually do not hire undergraduate students I do not know.
Generally speaking, undergraduate students who work in my lab (especially for course credit) have the following qualifications:
Minimum 3.2 overall GPA
Successful completion of Psyc 273 and/or Psyc 318 with a B or better (or other relevant college classes)
At least two full mornings free from 8:00am to 12:00noon (preferably Tuesday and Thursday mornings or Monday and Wednesday mornings)
Enjoy working with children between the ages of 3 and 12
Enjoy working with others
Can pass a criminal background check (because we work with minors), and are willing to undergo Human Subjects and Virtus Training
Interested in working with me?
Please contact me by e-mail, ddavids@luc.edu, if you are an undergraduate or graduate student who would like to get involved in the work in my lab. Undergraduate students must e-mail me a copy of their most current transcript before being considered. Bilingual students, especially those that speak Urdu, Spanish or Arabic are particularly needed, as well as those students who have a car and can drive to elementary schools, etc. for data collecting.
