Rules, Regulations and Policies
Credit for Courses: Grades
A letter grade from the following table will be assigned to each student who enrolls for a course and who does not withdraw in accordance with rules. Each grade will carry academic credit equal to the number of points shown on the table:
| A | = | 4.0 points per semester hour |
| A- | = | 3.67 points per semester hour |
| B+ | = | 3.33 points per semester hour |
| B | = | 3.0 points per semester hour |
| B- | = | 2.67 points per semester hour |
| C+ | = | 2.33 points per semester hour |
| C | = | 2.00 points per semester hour |
| C- | = | 1.67 points per semester hour |
| D | = | 1.0 point per semester hour |
| F | = | 0.0 points per semester hour |
| WF | = | 0 points per semester hour |
| CR | = | 0 points per semester hour |
| NC | = | 0 points per semester hour |
No credit toward graduation requirements or other-wise will be allowed in courses graded "F" (failing), "WF" (withdrawal failing), or "NC" (no credit). Elective courses graded "F" or "WF" may be repeated for credit at the option of the student. Such repeated elective courses will be graded as any other course.
At the end of each semester, the grade point average is computed by dividing the total number of grade points earned that semester by the total number of graded semester hours of coursework attempted that semester. The cumulative average will be computed by dividing the total number of grade points earned during the student's residence in this school by the total number of graded semester hours of coursework attempted during residence in this school. Grade points for each course are determined by multiplying the semester hours for each course by the points attributed to the grade awarded in such course.
For purposes of computing grade averages and cumulative grade point averages, the term "hours of coursework attempted" shall not include hours of credit attributed to courses from which a student was permitted to withdraw in accordance with these rules, nor shall it include hours attributable to courses for which the grade of "Credit" is awarded.
Policy for converting "Incompletes" to "Withdraw Failing"
Students will be awarded a grade for each course at its conclusion. In extenuating circumstances the faculty member, in consultation with the Deans Office, may grant a time extension and withhold a final grade, enter no grade, or enter the equivalent of an incomplete grade. The faculty member and the Deans Office will determine a deadline for completion of assignments and/or exams necessary to award a final grade. If the student does not complete assignments and/or exams by the deadline, or the faculty member does not enter a final grade by the last day of classes in the succeeding semester, a final grade of WF (Withdraw Failing) will be entered. If permitted a time extension for extenuating circumstances, it shall be the responsibility of the student to be proactive and complete all assignments and/or examinations as directed.
