ChildLaw Fellow Spotlight

Nancy Drane (2001) was an elementary school teacher and staff member with the Inner-City Teaching Corps (ICTC) in Chicago prior to attending Loyola. While at Loyola, Nancy participated in the ChildLaw Clinic and was Managing Editor of the Loyola University Chicago Law Review. Nancy also externed at the Children's Health and Education Project at the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the American Bar Association's Center on Children and the Law. Following law school, Nancy clerked for the Honorable Dominic J. Squatrito of the United States Districk Court for the District of Connecticut. Nancy is currently the Training Director at The Children's Law Center (CLC), the largest legal services organiztion in Washington, D.C. Nancy joined CLC as a staff attorney in 2003, serving as a guardian ad litem for children in D.C.'s child welfare system. In her current position, Nancy is responsible for CLC's internal training programs and its responsibilities to support the private bar practicing in the Neglect Branch of the D.C. Superior Court, Family Court Division. Nancy serves on the Family Law Section Steering Committee of the D.C. Bar, and is an Adjunct Professor at American University's Washington College of Law. In 2009, Nancy was certified as a Child Welfare Law Specialist (CWLS) by the National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC).
