Law Journal Conference
Beginning in 2001, the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal has hosted an annual conference on a topic of current and continuing significance in the legal community. The next conference is "The Judiciary in the Twenty-First Century" and will take place on Friday, April 3, 2009, on Loyola's Water Tower Campus at the Law Center. It is the goal of the Law Journal to host a conference that not only has great educational value for Loyola students, but that also has an appeal in the legal community at large. To this end, the "The Judiciary in the Twenty-First Century" conference will explore both the state of the judiciary today and the issues the judiciary will face in the future.
Past conference subjects have included "Taxes in a Liberal Democracy: Exploring the Relationship between Tax Law and Good Governance", "Law and Religion"; "Bush v. Gore One Year Later: A Constitutional Retrospective"; "Technology and Governance: How the Internet Has Changed Our Conceptions of Governance and Institutions"; "Race in Education Policy: A Constitutional Examination"; "Death and Dying: An Examination of End of Life Issues 30 Years after Quinlan"; "The Constitutional and Legal Issues Presented by Same Sex Relationships"; and "Checks and Balances Today: The Reality of Separation of Powers."Law Journal Conference:
