Student Organizations

Loyola's student organizations offer a broad range of opportunities for professional growth from general participation in the profession of law to involvement in specialized areas of professional interest to membership in religious and ethnic-based associations. For a complete list of all student organizations, please see the links below

The following tools are designed to assist student leaders with planning for their year.

Student Activities Fair: Held each Fall, this event is the threshold opportunity for all students to learn about the active student group offering at the law school for that academic year. Registered student groups do not need to reserve table space; there will be adequate table space provided for all student groups. Any questions, please contact Julie Schaff at jschaf2@luc.edu.

Calendar: To place your event on the law calendar, please email lawschoolannouncements@luc.edu and request that the event be placed on the law school online calendar.

Publicity:

Email Announcements: In order to submit an announcement to be sent to the law community over the broadcast email system, please send your email to lawschoolannouncements@luc.edu by 4 p.m. the day before you wish the announcement to be sent. Announcements will be sent out the following morning by 11 a.m..

Digital Monitor: In order to have your announcement appear on the digital monitors located in the 1st floor lobby and outside the library on the 3rd floor, please use one of the templates below to prepare your slide and email your slide to lawschoolannouncements@luc.edu. Font Size should be no smaller than 32 pt; however, we recommend less information and larger fonts. Below are few examples of templates.

Bulletin Board: The two most visible physical sites for posting your flyers are the bulletin board in the locker room and the bulletin board by the vending machines in the lower level. Before posting your flyer, you must have it approved by either Julie Schaff or Dean Gaspardo.

Room Reservations and Requests for tables in the Lower Level: Please send your room request with at least 7 days notice to lawroomreservations@luc.edu. For the first two weeks of each semester, the university places a freeze on all classroom assignments, so please plan accordingly. Please include the following information in your email:

Speaker Clearance Forms: The speaker clearance form must be completed and submitted to Julie Schaff or Dean Gaspardo at least 7 days prior to your event. Please note these considerations:

Budget: All student organizations are allotted funds for refreshments for one meeting per semester. In addition, if a student group invites a speaker, the group must submit a speaker clearance form and will then receive funds for refreshments at the speaking event. If a student group wishes to host a larger event or has additional financial needs, the group must submit a comprehensive budget proposal for the entire academic year to either Julie Schaff or Dean Gaspardo. All event proposals must be made in conjunction with your faculty advisor.

Application for New Student Group: This application must be submitted to Julie Schaff or Dean Jean Gaspardo prior to the organization's receiving funding for the academic year. In addition, every organization must have a constitution on file in order to receive funding.

Application for Renewal of a Student Group: This application must be submitted once every academic year to Julie Schaff or Dean Jean Gaspardo prior to the organization’s receiving funding for the academic year.

Working with the Alumni Relations Office: Your contact in the Alumni Relations Office is Terese Molinaro, located in Rm. 1464 and at 312-915-7353. If your organization's initiatives require alumni information, please review the attached procedure.

Offering Continuing Legal Education Credit (CLE): If your group plans to hold a speaker event that meets the content requirements of the Illinois Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board, www.mcleboard.org, and you wish to invite attorneys to your program, please contact LaTrina Porter at lporter@luc.edu or at 312-915-7125.
