ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

This conference and workshop will explore current trends in international commercial arbitration. Speakers will discuss the practical advantages and disadvantages of using arbitration to resolve international commercial disputes. Methods used to preserve international ethical standards throughout the arbitral proceeding will also be compared and contrasted, and the conference will feature distinguished practitioners and scholars from a variety of backgrounds. These speakers will present their ideas and comment on their experiences with international commercial law. This program has been approved by the Illinois MCLE Board for 5.5 hours of credit.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL LAW REVIEW:

The Loyola University Chicago International Law Review is a semiannual journal that focuses on topical issues in both international and comparative law. Loyola law students edit, manage, and publish the journal, including the yearly symposium issue in which established scholars and practitioners contribute articless focusing on a contemporary issue in international law, such as world trade law, international environmental law and the rule of law in Africa.

The 2004 symposium addressed "Free Trade Area of the Americas: The Implications of a Hemispheric Marketplace."

The initial symposium in 2003 addressed "European Union Enlargement Eastward: Welcoming Prosperity and Change."
