Public Service Day
Loyola University School of Law
Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Loyola University Chicago School of Law is committed to the Jesuit tradition of service to others.  Your first opportunity to participate in a service activity as a Loyola University Chicago School of Law student will take place during orientation, on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.

If you are interested in participating, please provide the information requested below.  We are in conversation with the sites. Details about the service activities/assignments will be provided at a later date. The time commitment will be between 4-6 hours. Your group will depart from Loyola Law around 9 a.m. the morning of the 22nd.  Loyola will either provide transportation to the site or will ensure that the site is accessible to public transportation.

Some of the sites are organizations where you may want to volunteer during the school year.  I am interested in your past involvement and areas of interest, and thus have a question relating to that at the end of this sheet. The information from you and your classmates may be helpful in selecting between some of the sites.  I do want you to keep in mind, however, that we hope to be coordinating this first experience for numerous students. In addition to being an opportunity to serve others, it is also a social experience and an opportunity to meet and work with fellow students. Thus, each student’s particular interests may not be able to be honored on this first Public Service Day.  As the year goes on, I will be happy to work with you to connect you with an experience of special interest to you. Subsequent to orientation, I would also like to pass your information on to student organization leaders who are planning various public interest events this fall. You may check below whether you approve of that sharing of your information.

Thanks in advance for your interest.

Mary Bird, Director of Public Service Programs
