Applying as a Visiting Student

Students and attorneys can visit Loyola University Chicago School of Law during the summer semester(s) for a limited enrollment of 1 to 2 courses. To apply for summer visiting status, please click here.

TO VISIT FOR A SEMESTER OR A YEAR 

Visiting applicants must submit a completed application form.

The deadline for submitting the application is July 1 and all supporting documents is July 15. Visiting students cannot apply for application fee waivers or apply online.

Students may elect to spend one semester or one year visiting Loyola University Chicago. Participation as a visiting student can occur only after the completion of 30 hours of credit.

      • Essay:  The essay should state the reasons for applying to visit  the law school A brief description of what is required is listed on the application.
      • LSAT/CAS Test Report:  It is the applicant's responsibility to register with CAS. Loyola University Chicago School of Law requires official copies of this report and will request the report upon receipt of the application. Copies of CAS reports from the applicant's current law school will not be accepted.
      • Law School Transcripts:  An official copy of an applicant's law school transcript is required. Although all semester grades are preferred, the committee will review an application without the spring semester grades of the year an applicant is applying. This transcript must come directly from the school.
      • Undergraduate Transcripts:  The transcript from the CAS report is sufficient.
      • Letter of Good Standing:  Visiting applicants must submit a letter of good standing from the dean of the law school the applicant is presently attending. This letter must include any disciplinary actions taken either for academic or social reasons.
      • Permission from Law School to Attend Loyola:  Visiting students must have written permission from their institution to visit Loyola University Chicago School of Law. This letter should also indicate that their institution will accept the courses taken by the student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
      • Two letters of recommendation.
      • Resume:  Although a resume is not a required part of the application, one may be included if the applicant desires.
