We have reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott Chicago O'Hare (the student hotel), for students who need a place to stay when they arrive in Chicago. This hotel is five minutes from O'Hare Airport and the Chicago Marriott Suites (the interview hotel). The special room rate is $132.00 per night for a single or double room, plus tax. This rate is guaranteed through July 9, 2008. When you call, you MUST say that you are making reservations for the "Loyola Patent Law Interview Program" or you will not receive the special rate. However, do not begin to make hotel reservations until after June 1st. Feel free to double-up with other students to save $$$.
Keep in mind that the interviews will take place at the Marriott Chicago Suites O'Hare.
Shuttle service between the student hotel and the interview hotel will be provided and will run several times a day on both July 31st and August 1st. If you do not bring your own transportation, we highly suggest that you stay at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare because the shuttle service will make getting to the interviews at the Marriot Chicago Suites O'Hare much easier.
Please be aware that registering does not guarantee you an interview. This program allows employers to choose who they interview, which means that not all students will receive interviews. However, over 900 students received interview opportunities last year.
WHEN MAKING YOUR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS, PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING IN MIND. All students who receive interviews are required to register at the Chicago Marriott Suites Hotel the evening before their interviews (July 30th or July 31st between 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.) OR the morning of their interviews (July 31st or August 1st between 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.). This is MANDATORY and WE WILL MAKE NO EXCEPTIONS. If you do not register at one of these times, you will lose your interview slots for that day. Please understand that this requirement allows us to determine who has not shown up for their interviews and fill any open slots with alternates. Students who are designated "alternates" MUST be present in the registration room the morning (7:30 – 8:30 a.m.) of the interview to receive empty interview slots.
DO NOT MAKE AIRLINE RESERVATIONS PRIOR TO KNOWING YOUR INTERVIEW SCHEDULE. Your interview schedule will not be finalized until sometime in late June. We will keep you informed as to when your interview schedule will be finalized.
INTERVIEW SCHEDULES - SYMPLICITY:
We will use Symplicity to create and manage the interview schedules. Symplicity allows you to view potential employers, upload your resume, bid on the employers, and view your interview schedule online. By mid-March we will know all of the students who have registered to participate in the Patent Program. In early April, we will provide Symplicity instructions to all students who have registered in Symplicity for the Patent Program.
How The Symplicity Interview Schedules Are Created:
- In early April, we will inform all registered students which employers are participating.
- In April and May, students register in Symplicity, bid on employers and upload their resumes to Symplicity.
- Symplicity then sends employers the resumes of all students who have bid on them.
- Employers then choose the students they wish to interview, plus alternates (in case of cancellations).
- Symplicity creates interview schedules based on employer choices and student availability.
- Employers then view the interview schedules in Symplicity.
- Students also view their interview schedules in Symplicity.
- In late June, students are permitted a short cancellation period (you will receive information about this cancellation period later in the process).
- If a student cancels an interview, the students chosen by employer as alternates are assigned interviews. For this reason it is important for all students to frequently monitor Symplicity during the summer. Once the cancellation period is over and final schedules are created, students can rely on these schedules to make travel plans.
INTERVIEW SCHEDULE PROCESS
Each interview schedule allows for 16 interviews. Interviews last 20 minutes, with five minute breaks between interviews. The first interview begins at 9:30 a.m. The lunch break is from 12:50 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interviews conclude at 5:20 p.m.
