Overview of Special Education Law and Obligations
Facilitated by attorneys working on school side and parent side of special education law, this session will cover relevant special education law while reviewing ISBE’s Charter School Application for Special Education rubric. By end of session, participants should not only know the relevant law in designing a compliant special education program but will understand how to complete the special education section of their charter application and be able to proactively consider how they might address common special education pitfalls.

LEA and Charter School Relationship: Division of Responsibilities (Room 1201)
Learn how the charter school and the LEA (CPS in Chicago) divide responsibilities for teaching students, providing related services, and managing the IEP process.

Go in-depth with the Charter School Application for Special Education and pose application questions to the expert.
