Annual Events

The annual Beazley Symposium on Access to Health Care examines the legal and policy issues surrounding access to health care on local, national, and international levels. Held each fall, the symposium is named in honor of Bernard Beazley, the Institute’s benefactor. Past topics include universal coverage, Medicare and Medicaid, safety nets, innovation in delivery systems, and immigration. This event offers continuing legal education for attorneys.

The annual L. Edward Bryant, Jr. National Health Law Transactional Competition seeks to expose law students to the core competencies of the corporate and regulatory practice of health care law. Held each spring, law students from across the country compete by providing legal advice on a potential business opportunity to a hypothetical health care client in a boardroom setting. This event is endowed and named in honor of L. Edward Bryant, Jr., one of the founders of the field of health law.

Education Immersion Weekends (EIWs) for online students and faculty are held three times each year. These weekends reinforce online learning through special programming, thesis presentations and workshops, and interaction between faculty and students.

The Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy regularly hosts online webinar sessions, known as the Health Law Seminar Series. Offered on alternating Wednesday evenings during the fall, spring, and summer terms, each session features a presentation by a national expert on an emerging issue or hot topic in health care. These live online webinar sessions are complimentary for Loyola University Chicago alumni, prospective students, and anyone interested in health care law and policy.  View a complete schedule of upcoming presentations and sign up here.
