Externship Application Process
STEP ONE: APPLYING TO EXTERNSHIP SITES
The School of Law makes every effort to assist students in obtaining appropriate externships.
- For the judicial sites, students may submit their resumes and transcripts during the resume collection period described below, and the Law School will distribute the materials to the judicial extern sites.
- Students should apply independently to the various approved externship sites on the list of approved sites. Please keep in mind that non-judicial sites require you to have 51 or more credit hours.
-In the fall semester, resumes will be collected at the end of September.
-In the spring semester, resumes will be collected in early February.

- Complete the Honor Statement and return to Ms. Josie Gough in Room 1317 of the Corboy Law Center.
STEP TWO: THE COURSE APPLICATION
After you have been accepted at an approved extern site, you must apply to the Extern Program to receive academic credit. Externship Supervisors Agreement are due to Ms. Josie Gough, Director of Experiential Learning, Room 1317 of the Corboy Law Center by the deadline stated on the application, but no later than two weeks before the beginning of the semester.
STEP THREE: REGISTRATION
Applicants will be notified as soon as possible if their extern application is not approved. Unless the application is not approved, it is the student's responsibility to register for the externship course on LOCUS during the designated window of time stated on the application. Students who wish to drop the course after the submission of the approval form are responsible for withdrawing from the course.
