Services

Life After Innocence strives to aid exonerated clients to reinstate their rights as innocent citizens and to return as productive, involved, and educated members of society. We do not, unfortunately, provide any services in the actual exoneration process. (For such services, please see our links page, and consider contacting innocence projects such as the Center on Wrongful Conviction or the Innocence Project). Utilizing resources from all over Chicago, Cook County and Illinois we provide, or aid in obtaining, assistance in the following areas:

Criminal/Legal Services:

  • Expungements of criminal record
  • Amicus Briefs: documents submitted to the court in a case where Life After Innocence is not a party, but has a strong policy and/or legal interest
  • Clemency petitions for other convictions

Medical Services:

  • Physicals
  • Dentistry
  • Mental health

Social Services:

  • Counseling
  • Support groups

Financial Services:

  • State monies for exonerated
  • Basic financial literacy, such as assistance with checking accounts, saving accounts, checkbook balancing, etc.

Employment Services:

  • Job search
  • Contractual issues

Housing Services:

  • Tenant disputes
  • Leasing issues

Domestic Relations Services:

  • Prenuptual agreements
  • Divorce and family issues
