About

Charmaine Butler teaches Legal Writing I, Legal Writing II and Advanced Writing Classes,. She also works on Legal Writing curriculum content and development as the Visiting Legal Writing Specialist. Before teaching Legal Writing, she practiced law at Michael Best and Friedrich (Chicago Office) in the areas of labor and employment relations. Ms. Butler is experienced in general litigation, labor arbitration, employment litigation, wage claim class actions, OFCCP compliance, and general employment counseling. She regularly represented a wide range of employers including the City of Chicago. She is also a member of the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic Attorney Advisory Board.

During law school, Ms. Butler served as a judicial extern for United States District Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan. She also worked as an intern at Health and Disability Advocates SSI Homeless Outreach Pilot Project.
