About

Mona Elgindy is a Supervisory Attorney in the Public Benefits Group at Legal Aid Chicago where she oversees their multiple Medical Legal Partnerships since November 2021. Previous to her work in Cook County, she worked as a staff attorney and co-chair of the Elder Law task force at Prairie State Legal Services for 8 years. She represented seniors in Will and Grundy county who were both living in the community and in Long term care. Her practice areas covered public benefits, housing, domestic violence, consumer law, advanced directives, guardianship, nursing home involuntary discharges and protection from financial exploitation.

She has experience litigating administrative appeals before several administrative agencies as well as at the circuit court level for administrative review.

She has spoken extensively about the legal remedies available to protect seniors from abuse and ways to protect their autonomy and independence.

Mona is an alum of the Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude. Prior to law school, she was a high school teacher for many years and she received her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from DePaul University with Honors.
