About

Dr. Smith has an independent law practice in Denver, Colorado, Cherry Creek Legal Consulting, PLLC (www.cclc.law), where he concentrates his practice in the legal aspects of business matters for the health professions. He received his Doctor of Law (JD) from Cornell Law School and his Doctor of Bioethics (DBE) from Loyola University Chicago (LUC). Dr. Smith joined the faculty of LUC’s Law School in 2017 as an adjunct professor. He is also an adjunct faculty member in LUC's Neiswanger Institute in the Stritch School of Medicine, teaching health care law, bioethics and social justice. Smith also has appointments to teach health care law, bioethics and social justice at Regis University, the University of Denver, the University of Colorado Denver, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Rocky Vista University's College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado.

He is the Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Colorado Healthcare Ethics Forum, having previously served for more than twenty years as a member of the Board of Directors of Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc. (CLECI).

Smith is a recipient of the Lloyd E. Worner Award from Colorado College, the William E. Doyle Award from CLECI and is a Fellow Emeritus of the Colorado Bar Foundation.
