Ted Banks is a highly experienced senior counsel with a record of successfully and managing business and legal challenges. An expert in Antitrust and Compliance, Ted is a prolific author of numerous books, articles and treatises, including the Corporate Legal Compliance Handbook. He is also a speaker on best practices and perspectives on antitrust compliance programs for corporate counselors. Ted is a current partner at Scharf Banks Marmor LLC where he concentrates his practice on antitrust, compliance, food law and other corporate matters. Ted also has extensive experience with corporate litigation, including responsibility for contested mergers, environmental contamination, advertising, insurance coverage, products liability, employment law, consumer protection, and packaging and recycling. Ted is the President of Compliance & Competition Consultants, LLC where he provides consulting services to business enterprises of all sizes regarding compliance and integrity programs, competitive practices, records management, and legal management.

Ted was formerly the Chief Counsel for Kraft Foods Global, Inc. where he was responsible for global compliance risk assessment, policy development, compliance program implementation, compliance training, records management and corporate archives. At Kraft Food Global, Inc., Ted supervised the design and implementation of a global records management system. He also created a computerized system to manage legal holds and production of electronic records, for which Kraft was recognized as “Most Creative Law Department” by Law Technology News.  Ted has been appointed as a corporate compliance monitor by the Federal Trade Commission and Competition Bureau of Canada to oversee compliance programs of respondent companies.

Ted has been recognized as an Illinois “Super Lawyer” in the field of corporate governance and compliance and a Governance, Risk & Compliance Trailblazer and Pioneer by the National Law Journal. Ted has been a leader in bar and community organizations. Ted founded and served as first chair on the North Shore Compliance Officers’ Roundtable and is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics and the steering committee of the Chicago Regional Business Ethics Network.
