Charles R. Purcell (1932-2010)
About
Professor Emeritus Purcell joined the faculty as an instructor in 1956. After a year in that position he engaged in the private practice of law and served as an assistant United States attorney, but continued to serve as a part-time instructor at the School of Law. In 1964 he returned to legal education, teaching at Loyola until 1966, and at the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1966 until 1970, when he returned to Loyola as dean of the School of Law. Except for one year when he was in private practice, he has remained at Loyola until the present. He served as dean until 1975 and as acting dean in 1983; he served again as acting dean in 1997-98.
