Title: Deputy Chief of the Felony Trial Division for the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender
Erica Reddick is the Deputy Chief of the Felony Trial Division for the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender. She previously served as Attorney Supervisor in the Felony Trial and Domestic Advocacy/Jury Misdemeanor divisions, and as Acting Chief of the Third District. Before entering management she practiced as an Assistant Public Defender in the areas of Juvenile Justice, Child Protection, Paternity, Misdemeanors, Felonies, and Post Convictions. She has taught various courses, including legal writing, legal analysis and writing enhancement, trial advocacy, advanced trial advocacy, and public defender clinic. She has also instructed at numerous seminars for various legal agencies, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Continuing Legal Education, NITA, the State Appellate Defender's Office, as well as the Cook County Public Defender's Office, on a range of topics, including Basic Criminal Defense, 'The Law in Your Courtroom,' File Management, Domestic Advocacy and Sentencing Issues, and Post-Conviction Law. As an Assistant Public Defender, Ms. Reddick won new trials in several post-conviction cases, tried numerous bench and jury trials and argued before the Illinois Supreme Court. She also co-authored a publication in the International Journal of Occupational Medicine and Toxicology, Public Aspects of Criminal Prosecution of Workplace-Related Deaths, Injury and Disease.
