Adam L. Frankel

 

Biography
Adam L. Frankel is an associate in the appellate department at Lord, Bissell & Brook where he practices in civil appeals. He drafts and edits appellate briefs in areas of the law including commercial litigation, insurance liability, and professional malpractice. He also drafts petitions for rehearing and leave to appeal, as well as assorted dispositive and procedural motions in the appellate and trial courts.

Prior to joining Lord, Bissell & Brook, Mr. Frankel served as judicial law clerk for the Honorable Allen Hartman, Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, First Judicial District. As a clerk, he drafted published opinions, unpublished orders and pre-oral bench memoranda. His work involved researching and analyzing wide-ranging issues relating to civil and criminal procedure, statutory construction, commercial law, insurance coverage, tort liability, property law, and corporate law, among others.

Before his clerkship, Mr. Frankel was an Assistant Appellate Defender for the Office of the State Appellate Defender, First Judicial District. There, he represented indigent persons on direct and post-conviction appeal, which entailed researching and analyzing the substantive and procedural issues of criminal law for drafting appellate briefs, and petitions for rehearing and leave to appeal in the Illinois reviewing courts.
