Kathleen F. Howlett

 

Biography
Kathleen F. Howlett concentrates her practice in the areas of health law and corporate transactions and presently serves as Legal Counsel to the Merit Lincoln Park Hospital. Prior to joining Shefsky & Froelich, she practiced at Mayer Brown Rowe and Maw in the health care group for four years, advising clients with regard to health care regulatory and Medicare/Medicaid payment matters, HIPAA privacy, security and confidentiality issues, health care information technology issues, FDA issues, managed care contracting, and global biotech, pharma, life sciences and agribusiness issues. She has also served three years as the Supervisor of the Health Law and Corporate Transactions Section of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office; this section served as general counsel for the Cook County Bureau of Health Services and as counsel to a number of county officials and the Cook County Board of Commissioners. From 1993-1997, she served as Associate General Counsel of the American Dental Association. She previously served as a Special Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County. Kathleen clerked for Chief Judge William J. Bauer, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, from 1985-1987.
