About
Ridgely J. Jackson is an associate in the Construction Law group of DLA Piper LLP (US) in Chicago. She drafts construction, design, and design-build contracts for large-scale, commercial projects. Ridgely also prosecutes and defends mechanics lien disputes.
Ridgely was the Pro Bono Attorney of the Month (1/10) for Illinois Legal Aid On-Line and focuses her pro bono practice on shelter for the disadvantaged and children’s issues. She volunteers at housing court and serves on the board of Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing. In addition, Ridgely has drafted contracts for housing and community projects located in Africa and Sri Lanka. She currently is drafting contracts for a girls’ academy in Malawi. Ms. Jackson also represents special education students and children involved in the juvenile justice system, serves as a court-appointed neutral for children in the foster care system, and assists adults in expunging their juvenile records.
Ridgely has edited numerous publications and presentations, most recently co-writing a chapter in Alternative Clauses to Standard Construction Contracts published by Aspen and working with the ABA on a publication regarding the collaterial consequences of juvenile justice. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, she tutored students in Legal Writing while a student at Loyola, served as research assistant to Loyola’s Director of Writing Programs, and returns to teach Legal Writing.
