Robert E. Lehrer
Biography
Robert E. Lehrer is a Chicago lawyer specializing in plaintiffs' civil rights litigation. After graduating from law school, he was a Staff Attorney and then Supervisory Attorney at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago (LAFC) for ten years, and then the Deputy Director and Litigation Director at LAFC from 1983-1996. In 1996, he established, with his LAFC colleague Diane L. Redleaf, the law firm of Lehrer & Redleaf. The law firm was dissolved in the summer of 2005, and Mr. Lehrer established his own practice - though Ms. Redleaf and he continue to co-counsel major civil rights litigation together. Mr. Lehrer has extensive trial and appellate litigation experience in the federal and state courts and has been lead counsel for plaintiffs in many class actions. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Civil Liberties Union, Illinois Division, from 1978 to 1996.
