Ronnie McKinnon

 

Biography

Prior to attending law school, Ronnie McKinnon worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal ICU at an academic medical center. While working full time she attended law school, where she was recipient of two AmJur awards, and graduated as Valedictorian from her law school class. After graduation from law school, she worked initially as an Associate Counsel, but was soon thereafter promoted to Senior Associate Counsel at a Medical Malpractice defense law firm and supervised junior attorneys and law interns. Currently she is Hospital Counsel for Patient Safety, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Stony Brook University Medical Center.  She has had numerous abstracts accepted for presentation at both National and International Patient Safety and Health Care Risk Management Professional Organizations, including National Patient Safety Foundation, Canadian Patient Safety Institute, University Health System Consortium and The Irish and American Pediatric Society. Ronnie is a Certified Professional in HealthCare Risk Management, a Certified Patient Safety Officer, and is an active committee member in the American Society for HealthCare Risk Management.
