Donal O'Brien

 

Biography
Donal O'Brien focuses his practice on a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance and leverage buy-outs.

In the mergers and acquisitions area, Mr. O'Brien has worked on behalf of buyers and sellers in public and private acquisitions and dispositions, leveraged buyouts, corporate restructurings, spin-offs, joint ventures and other strategic alliances. He represented American Tower in its $800 million dollar acquisition of 2,500 cell phone towers from ALLTEL and represented Wynnchurch Capital in its acquisition of The Steak-Umm Company, LLC. Recent clients in the mergers and acquisitions area include: Irish Dairy Board, TravelClick, Inc.; Mpact Consulting, LLC; Hudson Highland Group, Inc.; Kerry, Inc.; Barrilla Foods; Home Products; Vita Products; United Shockwave; and Avesta Steel, Inc.

In the area of finance, Mr. O'Brien has counseled financial institutions in numerous secured and unsecured lending transactions, including: refinancings, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, mortgage loans, receivables financing, loan portfolio acquisitions, and senior and subordinated loan participations.

Mr. O'Brien received his undergraduate degree in history from University College Dublin and his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Associations Judicial Evaluation Committee, a director of the American Liver Foundation (Illinois Chapter) and the founder and President of the Ireland Network,

the largest Irish professional network in North America. He is admitted to practice in Illinois.
